Tea Time
The Drake hotel is a Chicago landmark. On the outside it's neon pink sign shines over Lake Michigan. On the inside it's one of the oldest and most glamorous hotels in the city. The Drake first opened it's doors on New Year's Eve 1920 as the nations first "urban resorts". Among firsts, it was also the first hotel in Chicago to provide air conditioning and colored televisions in every guest's room. Walking into the lobby you immediately feel removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. Antiqued mirrored walls, mural size paintings and Asian collectibles, over sized chandeliers, and impressive floral arrangements make this the perfect setting for afternoon tea. Tea takes place in the Palm Court everyday from 1 to 5pm. A live harpist is a lovely accompaniment to your finger sandwiches, pastries, and tea. A very relaxing way to spend the afternoon.
