But before we get too far with the sight seeing, let's start with a little story... being the children of a flight attendant means we can visit each other more often, which is great, but it also means flying stand-by. Flying stand-by is like consistently being a contestant on the Amazing Race. Two pieces of advice: always have flight plan B, C, and D in your back pocket and don't trust anyone (ok, a little extreme). From being number 45 on a standby list with a full flight to getting stuck overnight in somewhere U.S.A, we have seen it all. At this point the whole process is very amusing.
We woke up early to catch a morning flight to Chicago. Traffic wasn't terrible so we had time at the airport to get breakfast. There's a new restaurant we decided to try and I got the breakfast burrito. The burrito was missing something, a key ingredient, salsa. But to my dismay there was no salsa in the whole restaurant. I proceeded to eat my bland burrito while the flight crew called the names of those lucky ones to get seats. Allie and I were last on the list. Things did not look promising. Then, something happened! ... passengers 'Salsa', party of two, was called. The Salsas were not at the gate, no one could find them. No Salsa! We were on. It was truly a morning lacking salsa.
After arriving in Chicago we headed to Wicker Park for some dinner, drinks and trivia. And our luck continued with a trivia victory! The next day we fueled up on brunch and went to the zoo, rode the 'L', saw the Bean, checked out downtown, photographed Buckingham fountain, and got drinks in Old Town. Highlights: the Red River Hog, watching a patient get dental work done from the L window (seriously mean having your dental office so close and leaving the windows open), starting the Bean jumping shot trend for the day, and lots of delicious food.
The following morning we had donuts in our sights. I have been waiting to try this place but just couldn't do it solo. Do-Rite donuts in located downtown in a tiny store front. They have tables outside and that is where we indulge on sugary goodness. I got the PB&J and the maple-bacon, Allie got the banoffee (banana/coffee) and carrot cake. They also have iced coffee on tap!

So much fun, can't wait to visit again!
