I have to walk two blocks from the bus stop to my office and Garrett's popcorn is on the way ...they start making popcorn early (hence the wafting of buttery-sugary goodness as I walk by) but they don't open until 9am!
I spend too much money on my lunch break shopping on Michigan Ave.!
The bus is packed with holiday shoppers in good cheer!
It's official, I'm a working lady again. My fun-employment has been great but the time has come to participate in reality again. It's funny how a weekly schedule is something you miss after awhile. And when your occupational hazards include being dangerously close to Garrett's popcorn, Zara, H&M, and HomeGoods, working life is nothing to shiver about. I feel very lucky to have landed my new job at Northwestern University and looking forward to working on some really interesting and forward thinking projects within the Illinois hospital system. This time around I'm working more on the development and implementation side of research versus patient recruitment and interventions, which is what I did in New Haven.
The best part about my office is that it's in a great location. Every night I leave work and walk up Michigan Ave to check out the lights and decorations (and do a little Christmas shopping). The thousands of shoppers, festive window displays, and obvious out-of-towners here on vacation, are a constant reminder that I live in a 'real' city and the holidays are upon us. We even had our first snow this past week! The Californian in me still gets excited about snow :)
